“Over the next several years, I think we’ll continue to have some internal combustion stuff, probably through most of the decade,” said Sam Abuelsamid, a research analyst at Guidehouse Insights.
And Polestar, an electric-performance spinoff from Volvo, just announced a new Polestar 6 roadster for 2026. Audi, Mercedes, Porsche and other European automakers already have high-performance electric models on sale. Tesla says its Model S Plaid version is the fastest production vehicle made, able to go from zero to 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) in under 2 seconds. General Motors has said it will build an all-electric Chevrolet Corvette. Other automakers are moving - or have moved - in the same direction. The Canadian factory that makes them will be converted to electric vehicles. Stellantis says it will stop making gasoline versions of the Dodge Challenger and Charger muscle cars and the Chrysler 300 large car by the end of next year. On Wednesday night, Dodge unveiled a battery-powered Charger Daytona SRT concept car, which is close to one that will be produced in 2024 as the sun sets on some petroleum models. Stellantis’ Dodge brand, long the performance flag-bearer of the company formerly known as Fiat Chrysler, is officially moving toward electricity. (AP) - Thundering gas-powered muscle cars, for decades a fixture of American culture, will be closing in on their final Saturday-night cruises in the coming years as automakers begin replacing them with super-fast cars that run on batteries. I think if I had 1 more session with it, I can get Sub 2 with how it currently is.PONTIAC, Mich. I made a lot of mistakes with the car and thankfully PSM was left on to catch my mistakes hahaha I managed to still get a 2:03.6 with the car with this being my only experience with it. Thankfully everyone was generous with the point-bys.
There was a lot of traffic, but I didn't mind.
I ran in the purple group since my dad drives the car in the black group with me. The GT4 came with Dunlop SPORT MAXX RACE tires and my goodness there is a world of difference when I compare it to the amount of grip the PSS has. We literally had just broken the car in with 2500 miles on our way to Buttonwillow, so it was the first time I got to hear its 3.8L flat 6 scream. I really want to make more track videos with this car, but I also want my dad to enjoy his retirement car hahahaha Not an STI, but I was my first time behind the wheel at the track with my dad's Cayman GT4!!!! I'm torn because I always want to try for my PB with my STI, but this car is so freakin fun to drive. I would love to hear your thoughts on what I should get! I hear a lot of good things about koyorad radiators, but I also have my eye on CSF's radiator with the build in oil-cooler. Next time I go to the track, I will be upgrading my radiator to be able to handle the heat. Now I also wonder if that front aero also played a role in getting that lap time. When I was driving in the rain recently, a puddle snapped off the lip so I don't have it anymore. Since my last track day, I also put on a CS style front lip on the car from IkonMotorsport. I also think the castrol SRF played a big role as well. Could I have managed a 2:07 with stock pads & rotors? I want to believe so, but I also think I wouldn't have gotten as many laps in as I did if I didn't have the upgraded parts. My brakes worked without flaw with how I was driving and I'm really happy with that.Ī few last thoughts - I do wish I had 1 more track day with factory pads and rotors to see how much of a difference having my brake ducts make. My brake duct kit + rotors and pads have given me a lot more confidence and I never felt like I was cooking them. I never thought I would even get 2:07 on stock suspension and PSS tires.
